Point System Information

What is a point system? A loot point system is a method of distributing loot in a fair manner, spending points earned from raids on loot that drops during these raids.

Why have a point system? Bloodrage has a point system because it allows for a fair distribution of loot. This prevents having members that raid a lot getting out rolled by people that rarely raid, yet still allows the more casual raider a shot at loot. It, also, removes the responsibility of a person rewarding loot, loot is rewarded by the system.

Why do I have a red, negative point adjustment? Bloodrage uses an EQdkp web page to track and manager our point system. EQdkp allows our raid leaders to upload a raid as a whole. We assign a total point value to the raid and all members in attendance are included in this upload. We have a points EARNED point system, you get a point for being on time, staying until the end and a point value for each boss you helped kill. If you are not there for the start, end or any boss fight, you did not EARN the full raid total and your point total will need to be adjusted to remove the UNEARNED points. The negative adjustment may seem like a "penalty", but it is a necessary evil to allow our raid leaders to track points without having to spend hours and hours doing it, as it is, they still spend a good hour on it.

Earning Points

Points are earned by attending guild raids. Starting the raid, finishing the raid, attempting and killing bosses are all worth points. Below is a list of point values earned from each event (Raid start, boss kill, etc.). A guild first boss kill is worth double points. Points and raids will be tracked on our EQdkp site, which can be accessed by clicking on the "tracking" link at the top of the page.

Spending Points and Receiving Loot

Loot is received by bidding points against others who want the item. All items have a minimum bid of 5 points. When an item drops, a loot officer decides what classes can use and announces that to the raid. The members in that class or group of classes who want the item bid against each other until a higher bid is not received within 30 seconds (the whole process should only take a couple minutes), each time the bid is increased a higher bid must be received within 30 seconds or the bidding ends with the high bidder receiving the item. You can only bid up to the number of points you have, you can not bid more points than your current total that you have at the beginning of the raid. The winner has the amount of his high bid removed from his point total. There will be only one gear upgrade and one quest/tradeskill item per raid(unless nobody wants the items beyond the first). There is no maximum bid.

Example 1

A Belt of Might drops. Since it is warrior only, the decision is easy as to what classes can use.

Bob the Warrior has 55 points
Steve the Warrior has 52 points
Joe the Warrior has 45 points
Dave the Warrior has 23 points
John the Warrior has 15 points

Steve and Dave have the item already. Bob, Joe and John do not. Bob bids 10 points, John turns around and bids 15 points, Joe bids 20, John can not bid higher because he only has 15 points, Bob bids 25 points, Joe bids 30 points, Bob thinks about it and decides he does not want to spend that many points on the belt so he stops bidding, 30 seconds pass and bidding is closed. Joe wins the belt and has 30 points deducted from his total.

Example 2

A blue ring of spell critting drops. The loot officer decides it would be best on the hand of a Mage or Warlock.

Bob the Mage has 65 points
Dave the Warlock has 54 points
John the Warlock has 51 points
Joe the Mage has 32 points
Steve the Mage has 28 points

Bob, John and Joe do not want the item. Dave and Steve decide they do want the item. Dave bids 2 points, Steve bids 3, Dave bids 4, Steve bids 10, Dave decides he does not want to spend 10 points on the item and after 30 seconds the bidding ends and Steve wins the ring. He has 10 points taken away from his total.

Quest Items

Class specific quest items (hunter leaf, Eye of Divinity, etc.) are bid on with a minimum bid of 10 points.

All other quest items (head of onyxia, head of nefarion, etc.) are rolled on with a flat cost of 20 points. As long as you have 20 points, you can roll on the item.

Bid Collusion

Bid Collusion is FORBIDDEN. Bid collusion is when you work out deals with others in your class or in other classes in an effort to reduce the point cost of items you bid on. This defeats the purpose of the point system and allows people to manipulate the system to give them an unfair advantage in keeping more points than others in an effort to recieve more loot or have an unfair number of points when it comes to bidding on highly sought after items.

If you are found to be party to Bid Collusion, you will be subject to a 50dkp penalty and suspended from scheduled raids for two weeks. If there is a second offense, you will be removed from the guild.

The system must remain competitive to remain fair to all involved. The bid system is meant to allow people to have a fair shot at loot and competitive bids are key to this fairness. Suspicion of Bid Collusion will be investigated thoroughly and if you are found to be party to it you will be subject to the above penalties.
